5. (Repealed).

5. The Government may appoint a member of the Conseil exécutif who has been practising the profession of advocate for at least fifteen years, to fill the office of Solicitor General of Québec.
The functions of the Solicitor General shall be to act as attorney and counsel and to appear before the courts, at the request of the Attorney General, in any legal matter or judicial proceeding the conduct of which belongs to the Attorney General.
He shall fulfil such other functions and duties of a legal or juridical nature as the Government may assign to him.
The Solicitor General shall enjoy the same privileges and prerogatives as a minister appointed under section 4.
