981. The judgment has the authority of a final judgment (res judicata) only with respect to the parties to the suit and only for the amount claimed.
The judgment cannot be invoked in an action based on the same cause and instituted before another court; the court must, upon the application of a party or ex officio, dismiss every application or proof based on such judgment.
