174. For the purposes of this Act, a person who is a victim is any natural person who suffers physical or psychological injury or incurs property loss as a result of the perpetration of an offence.
If the person who is a victim dies, is a minor or is otherwise unable to receive communication of the information to be communicated under section 175 or to make representations, the person’s spouse, a relative or a child of the person or any other person in whose custody or care the person is placed shall, if he or she applies therefor, be considered to be a person who is a victim.
