65. No person may drive a road vehicle unless he holds a driver’s licence of the class appropriate to the driving of that vehicle as determined by regulation, and containing the endorsements prescribed by regulation, if any.

The application of this section is suspended with respect to a person who holds a driver’s licence issued by an administrative authority other than the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec; drives a passenger vehicle; has settled in Québec more than 6 months ago. No person may drive a road vehicle on a public highway, on a highway under the administration of or maintained by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles, de la Faune et des Parcs, on a private road open to public vehicular traffic or on land occupied by shopping centres or other land where public traffic is allowed unless he holds a driver’s licence of the class appropriate to the driving of that vehicle as determined by regulation, and containing the particulars prescribed by regulation, if any.
