136. All the headlights, lights and reflectors required by the Code shall be present, comply with the manufacturer’s standards and be securely mounted in the locations designed for that purpose. All the headlights, lights and indicator lamps on an electrical circuit shall light up with the intensity intended by the manufacturer when the switch of the electrical circuit is turned on.

Despite the first paragraph, the headlights, lights and reflectors of a military-type road vehicle are not required to comply with the manufacturer’s standards. However, they must comply with the Canadian safety standards for motor vehicles provided for in the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (S.C. 1993, c. 16) that apply on the date of the vehicle’s manufacture or with SAE International’s Standard J759. In the latter case, headlights and lights must light up with the intensity intended by their manufacturer.136.
