I
GENERAL

In this Regulation, unless the context indicates otherwise,
“credit” means the quantitative value attributed to a student’s mandatory work-load, 1 credit representing 45 hours of attendance at a course and personal work.

STANDARDS FOR EQUIVALENCE OF TRAINING

For the purposes of determining whether training is equivalent to that acquired by the holder of a diploma recognized by the Government under the first paragraph of section 184 of the Professional Code (chapter C-26) as giving access to a specialist’s certificate in clinical biochemistry, the board of directors shall evaluate that training in terms of the standards described in section 3.

A candidate shall be granted an equivalence for training where he shows that he possesses a level of knowledge equivalent to that acquired to earn a diploma upon completing post-graduate university studies including:
(

)
not less than 9 credits in post-graduate level biochemistry courses or in a related field recognized by the board of directors;
(
2
)
not less than 36 months of studies and research at a university in biochemistry;
(
3
)
the writing and defence of a doctoral thesis based on research the candidate carries out.

PROCEDURE FOR RECOGNITION OF EQUIVALENCE

After considering the file, the board of directors shall decide, in accordance with this Regulation, whether it recognizes an application for equivalence of training and shall inform the candidate in writing of its decision.

Within 15 days following its decision not to recognize an application for the equivalence of training referred to in Division II, the board of directors shall inform the candidate in writing of the program of studies, training periods or examinations whose successful completion, considering his current level of knowledge, would permit him to receive that equivalence.

The candidate must pay the fees that the board of directors sets by resolution under the Professional Code (chapter C-26).
