302.Each year the Office shall designate one of its members to replace the president provisionally, in the event that the president is absent or unable to act, until such time as the Government appoints a substitute to replace the president for the duration of his absence or inability to act. If the substitute is not already a member of the Office, the composition of the Office may, for the duration of the substitution, be increased to a maximum of ten members.

The second sentence of this section, enacted by section 9 of chapter 38 of the statutes of 1995, will come into force on the date fixed by order of the Government (1995, c. 38, s. 12).
