123. The Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities (chapter E-2.2), except sections 2 and 3, applies to the first general election. The polling date is the date fixed in the order; if the date is not the first Sunday in November, sections 341 and 344 of the said Act apply as in the case of a by-election.
For the purpose of determining whether a person is qualified as an elector, a candidate or a qualified voter at an election or a referendum in the territory of the municipality, any period, prior to the amalgamation, during which the person was resident, continuously or not, in the territory of an applicant municipality or was the owner of an immovable or the occupant of a place of business situated in that territory shall be counted as if the person had been a resident, owner or occupant in the territory of the municipality from the beginning of that period.
