3. The main purpose of this chapter is to constitute integrated health and social services centres and to provide for the composition, operation, powers and obligations of the boards of directors of those institutions and of unamalgamated institutions.
Integrated health and social services centres and unamalgamated institutions are public institutions within the meaning of the Act respecting health services and social services (chapter S-4.2). An integrated health and social services centre resulting from an amalgamation under this Act is deemed to result from an amalgamation carried out in accordance with the Act respecting health services and social services and to have been constituted by letters patent of amalgamation issued by the enterprise registrar under section 318 of that Act.
