369. The service prescribed by section 368 shall be effected, as respects ratepayers residing in the municipality, by leaving a copy of the special notice with the person to whom it is addressed, in person, or with a reasonable person at his domicile or place of work, or by leaving a copy thereof at the post-office of the locality in a sealed and registered or certified envelope addressed to the person to whom such notice must be given.
As respects non-resident ratepayers, it shall be effected by depositing a copy thereof in a sealed and registered or certified envelope, addressed to the person for whom it is intended at his domicile or place of work, or at the nearest post-office. But no non-resident ratepayer may plead that he has not received such notice, if he has not a known agent in the municipality, or if he has not left his address in writing at the office of the secretary-treasurer of the school board.
The fees to which the secretary-treasurer is entitled for such special notice and for the costs of service shall be fixed by resolution of the school board.
