2797. A hypothec is extinguished by the extinction of the obligation whose performance it secures. In the case of a line of credit or in any other case where the debtor obligates himself again under a provision of the act constituting the hypothec, the hypothec, unless cancelled, subsists notwithstanding the extinction of the obligation.
