To guarantee execution of the judgment on the appeal, the judge may, on a written application by the respondent, order that the appeal be heard on condition that the appellant, except the Attorney General or the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, furnish security in the amount and on the terms and conditions of payment determined by the judge.
