30. Every motor vehicle and moped must, when operated on any public highway, be provided with a sounding device sufficient in capacity to be heard at a distance of 60 m, but which must not be used otherwise than as a signal of danger, or when approaching a curve, or the intersection of two streets, or when coming into a street or highway from any garage or private ground, or when overtaking and in such a manner as not to produce a harsh or prolonged noise. Between the hours of zero and six hours, the sounding device shall be used, in cities, towns and villages, and in any populated part of another municipality, only in case of absolute necessity.

The use of sirens is reserved exclusively and in urgent cases only, for the vehicles of the police, law enforcement officers, fire departments and ambulances. Any policeman or law enforcement officer is authorized to confiscate and turn in to the Department, after delivering a receipt therefor to the person in charge of such vehicle, any such device installed on a vehicle not mentioned in the above list. This paragraph shall not apply to a siren that cannot be actuated except in case of burglary.
