323. The mayor may call a special sitting of the council whenever he deems proper, by an oral or written intimation to the clerk of the municipality. The clerk shall issue a notice of convocation summarily specifying the business to be transacted at such sitting and shall cause such notice to be served upon every member of the council not later than twenty-four hours before the time fixed for the commencement of the sitting, in accordance with section 338.
The posting of a notice by registered or certified mail at least two clear days before the sitting shall be deemed equivalent to service of the notice of convocation.
