Section 67 Disposition versions

67. The vice-president designated by the Government shall ex officio, and temporarily, replace the president if he is absent or unable to act or if the office of president is vacant. If the vice-president called upon to replace the president is himself absent or unable to act, or if that office is vacant, the other vice-president shall replace the president. Otherwise, the Government shall designate another member of the commission and, if need be, shall fix the additional salary, fees or allowances of that other member.

67. The commission shall in particular:

(a)  receive complaints and make investigations regarding matters within its competence by virtue of section 69;

(b)  establish a programme of information and education designed to promote an understanding and acceptance of the objects and provisions of this Charter;

(c)  direct and encourage research and publications relating to fundamental rights and freedoms;

(d)  make an analysis of any Québec statutes that may be inconsistent with the Charter and make the appropriate recommendations to the Government;

(e)  receive the suggestions, recommendations and requests made to it concerning human rights and freedoms, study them and make the appropriate recommendations to the Government; and

(f)  cooperate with any Québec or outside organization dedicated to the promotion of human rights and freedoms.
