84. A chief judge of the sessions who has held such office for at least ten years may resign as chief judge before he reaches seventy years of age, but shall remain a judge of the sessions; he shall subsequently continue to receive the salary attached to the office of chief judge until he has resigned or reached seventy years of age; the pension to which he is entitled shall be that of a chief judge, and his widow, should the case arise, shall have the same rights under section 106 as the widow of a chief judge.
