249. The Government appoints the members of the council contemplated in paragraphs d to g of section 248. A person contemplated in paragraph g must, to sit on the council, have taken the oath or solemn affirmation contained in Schedule I before one of the chief judges or senior associate chief judges contemplated in paragraph a, b or c of section 248.
The vice-chairman of the council is elected by the council from among its members.
The term of office of the members of the council appointed under the first paragraph is not more than three years; at the expiry of their term, these members remain in office until they are replaced or reappointed.
