112. The days on which an officer took leave without pay, ending before 1 July 1983 but for any period subsequent to 1 July 1976, are credited to him upon his application, if

(1)  he was authorized for that purpose by his employer;

(2)  he pays an amount equal to the contributions that would have been deducted from him, if he had not been so on leave, on the pensionable salary he was receiving when he went on leave; and

(3)  he held an office contemplated in the plan provided for in this Act to which he contributed from the end of his leave without pay, unless he has become disabled.

The amount required for those days to be credited is payable in a lump sum or by instalments spread over the period and payable at the times determined by the Commission. If the application for redemption is made after the end of the year in which the officer took a leave without pay, this amount bears interest at 8.5 %, compounded annually, computed from the date on which the leave ended.

112. The days on which an officer took leave without pay, ending before 1 July 1983 but for any period subsequent to 1 July 1976, are credited to him upon his application, if

(1)  he was authorized for that purpose by his employer;

(2)  he pays an amount equal to the contributions that would have been deducted from him, if he had not been so on leave, on the pensionable salary he was receiving when he went on leave; and

(3)  he held an office contemplated in the plan provided for in this Act to which he contributed from the end of his leave without pay, unless he has become disabled.

If the application for redemption is made after the end of the year in which the officer took a leave without pay, this amount bears interest at 8.5 %, compounded annually, computed from the date on which the leave ended. However, no interest is computed for the period during which the redemption proposal made by the Commission is valid.

112. The days on which an officer took leave without pay, ending before 1 July 1983 but for any period subsequent to 1 July 1976, are credited to him upon his application, if

(1)  he was authorized for that purpose by his employer;

(2)  he pays an amount equal to the contributions that would have been deducted from him, if he had not been so on leave, on the salary he was receiving when he went on leave; and

(3)  he holds an office contemplated in the plan provided for in this Act to which he contributed from the end of his leave, unless he has died or become disabled or entitled to retirement or unless, upon his return, he enters the service of an employer with whom the Commission has concluded an agreement of transferability.

The Commission shall determine the times when the payments must be made. The amount required to have the days of leave credited is increased by interest at the rate of 8.5% if the application for redemption is made after the end of the year in which the officer was on leave without pay. The interest accrues from the end of the leave and is compounded annually.

112. On a request for re-examination, the Commission may confirm or amend the decision and shall notify the applicant in writing of its decision and the reasons therefor.
