59. (1) No person undertaking or executing or having, directly or indirectly, alone or with another, by himself or by the interposition of any trustee or third person, any contract or agreement with Her Majesty or with any public officer or department of the Gouvernement du Québec with respect to the public service of Québec or under which any public money of Québec is to be paid for any service, work, matter or thing, shall be eligible as a member of the National Assembly, or sit or vote as such.
(2) Nothing in this section, however, shall render ineligible or disqualify, from sitting or voting as a member of the National Assembly, any person who is a shareholder in an incorporated company having such contract or agreement, with the exception of a company carrying out any public works.
