444. Each school board that is a member of a regional board shall levy an assessment or special tax sufficient to provide for its share of any apportionment of the expenses of the regional board.
Such share shall be payable to the regional board in ten equal monthly instalments on the first juridical day of the months of September to June in each year.
Any instalment not paid at maturity shall bear interest from the date of maturity at the rate of six per cent per annum.
Nevertheless, the regional board, by a resolution passed within thirty days preceding the end of the school year, may enact a rate of interest higher than that above provided; the rate so enacted shall apply for the ensuing school year.
