259. A physician or dentist who ceases to practise within an institution without the authorization of the president and executive director and without giving prior notice of at least 60 days or before the expiry of a shorter period authorized under section 258 becomes, from the date fixed by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec, a non-participating professional for the purposes of the Health Insurance Act (chapter A-29), for a period equal to twice the number of days remaining before the expiry of the applicable notice period. The president and executive director promptly informs the Régie of the departure of the physician or dentist and indicates the period for which that professional becomes a non-participating professional.
Where the medical and professional services director considers that the departure may affect the quality or adequate supply of the medical and dental services offered to the population served by the institution, the medical and professional services director notifies in writing the Collège des médecins du Québec or the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, as applicable.
