After receiving a ballot paper, the elector shall enter the polling booth, mark the ballot paper in one of the circles and fold it; he shall leave the polling booth, and allow the initials of the deputy returning officer to be examined by the latter, the poll clerk and every representative of a candidate who wishes to do so; then, the elector, in view of the persons present, shall detach the stub and remit it to the deputy returning officer, who shall destroy it, and the elector himself shall place the ballot paper in the ballot box.
