25. Every public officer who fails to comply with the provisions of this Act may be deprived of his office, and, moreover, shall incur a fine of not more than $200 which shall belong to Québec and be recovered in the name of the Crown by an ordinary action before a court having jurisdiction for the amount claimed; and, on failure to pay such fine, he may be imprisoned in the house of detention for a term of not more than three months.
