A person or partnership that, on 1 May 2010, holds a real estate broker’s certificate issued by the Association des courtiers et agents immobiliers du Québec under the Real Estate Brokerage Act (chapter C-73.1) and acts through the intermediary of a natural person holding a real estate broker’s or real estate agent’s certificate is deemed to hold a real estate agency licence. However, a person or partnership that engages exclusively in brokerage activities relating to loans secured by immovable hypothec may request that the real estate agency licence be replaced by a mortgage broker agency licence.
