301. Whoever has been appointed by the Minister of Municipal Affairs, or by the mayor, as the case may be, to preside at an election of mayor or local councillors, may decline such office on transmitting special notice of his refusal to the Minister of Municipal Affairs or the mayor, as the case may be, within four days from the notification of his appointment. In default of his so doing, he may no longer refuse such office.
