114. Every member of a council appointed to replace another, whether as mayor or councillor, holds office only for the remainder of the term for which his predecessor had been appointed.
The mayor elected at the first general election held under article 280, or elected or appointed under Division VIII of Chapter VI of Part I of the Act respecting elections in certain municipalities (chapter E-2.1), holds office only until the time fixed by article 111 for the general election of the mayor, subject to articles 285 to 294.
