957.1. No person may, to avail himself of this book, divide, directly or indirectly, a claim exceeding five hundred dollars into so many claims not exceeding five hundred dollars.
No right of action exists for the recovery of a claim resulting from such a division and the judge must dismiss the demand exofficio or upon the application of the debtor.
This article does not prevent a demand for a claim:
(a) which has been voluntarily reduced by the creditor to an amount not exceeding five hundred dollars;
(b) resulting from a credit contract providing for payment by instalments; or
(c) resulting from a contract providing for successive performance of the obligations, such as a lease, a contract of work or any other similar contract.
