4. In townships, the Minister shall make use of such maps or surveys, or cause such surveys to be made as he deems best adapted to ensure the correctness of the plans and books of reference to be made; but unless any practical difficulty would arise from so doing, the original numbering of the lots and concessions shall always be preserved; and, in the country parts, any subdivisions of lots shall be distinguished by letters or other devices as parts of such original lots, and in towns and villages by subordinate numbers or other devices, but always as parts of the original lots, which shall also be referred to.
Whenever any difficulty occurs, the lots shall be designated and described in such manner as the Minister shall regulate.
