1. Natural gas distributors must deliver annually, for final consumption in the territory for which the distributor obtained exclusive distribution rights, a quantity of gas from renewable sources equal to or greater than the result of the following formula: In the formula provided for in the first paragraph,(1) the variable “T” represents(a) a rate of 0.01 as of the distributor’s rate year beginning in 2020;
(b) a rate of 0.02 as of the distributor’s rate year beginning in 2023;
(c) a rate of 0.05 as of the distributor’s rate year beginning in 2025;
(d) a rate of 0.07 as of the distributor’s rate year beginning in 2028; and
(e) a rate of 0.1 as of the distributor’s rate year beginning in 2030.
(2) the variable “LRA3” represents the total of the distributor’s actual natural gas deliveries to the major enterprise market and the small and medium flow market for the third rate year preceding the current year;
(3) the variable “LRA2” represents the total of the distributor’s actual natural gas deliveries to the major enterprise market and the small and medium flow market for the second rate year preceding the current year;
(4) the variable “LPA1” represents the total of the distributor’s estimated deliveries to the major enterprise market and the small and medium flow market for the rate year preceding the current year.
The result of the formula and the variables described in subparagraphs 2 to 4 of the second paragraph are in million cubic metres (Mm3).
Where the gas from renewable sources delivered by a distributor is hydrogen produced in accordance with the second paragraph of section 0.1, only 33 1/3% of that hydrogen may be computed in the calculation of total deliveries represented by the variables LRA3, LRA2 and LPA1, and in the calculation of the quantity of gas from renewable sources that the distributor delivers to meet its requirement provided for in this section.
