Disposition versions
40. Prohibited sale of animals: No person may sell in an establishment an incurable animal or an animal affected with a contagious disease and declared as such by a veterinary surgeon appointed under section 55.9.17 of the Act at the time of entry of such animal in the establishment.
The animal is then seized by the veterinary surgeon and directed to a slaughterhouse where a release is granted depending on the results of the ante mortem or post mortem examination.
If such animal cannot be slaughtered in a slaughterhouse, it must be slaughtered by its owner and directed to a dismembering plant where a release is granted.
