15. Despite sections 9 and 13, a driver travelling by a ferry crossing scheduled to take more than 5 hours is not required to take the mandatory 8 consecutive hours of rest if(1) the time spent resting in a sleeper berth while waiting to board the ferry, in a cabin on the ferry and at a place that is no more than 25 km from the point of disembarkation from the ferry combine to total a minimum of 8 hours;
(2) the hours are recorded in the record of duty status as hours of rest spent in a sleeper berth; and
(3) the driver retains the receipt for the crossing and accommodation fees.
