For the purposes of providing services consisting in the translation of texts, speech or terms from one language into another, as an intermediary between persons of different languages, the board of directors of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec determines the following categories of permits:
(

)
a Certified Translator’s permit;
(
2
)
a Certified Terminologist’s permit;
(
3
)
a Certified Interpreter’s permit.

The Certified Translator’s permit allows its holder to provide services consisting in the translation of texts from one language into another, as an intermediary between persons of different languages.
Such a permit holder may use the title of “Certified Translator” only, or the initials “C. Tr.”.

The Certified Terminologist’s permit allows its holder to provide services consisting in the translation of terms from one language into another, as an intermediary between persons of different languages.
Such a permit holder may use the title of “Certified Terminologist” only, or the initials “C. Term.”.

The Certified Interpreter’s permit allows its holder to provide services consisting in the translation of speech from one language into another, as an intermediary between persons of different languages.
