251. When one of the parties ceases to be represented before the case is taken under advisement, the opposite party must serve him with a notice to appoint another attorney or to file a written appearance on his own behalf.
If the party fails, within ten days, to conform to the notice, the opposite party may, after default has been recorded by the prothonotary, proceed as in a case by default, if he is plaintiff, or ask for the dismissal of the action, saving the plaintiff’s recourse, if he is defendant.
