C-24.2 - Highway Safety Code

634.3. Photo radar devices and red light camera systems may only be used to monitor compliance with highway safety rules 
(1)  in a school zone;
(2)  in a construction or maintenance work zone limited, for the purposes of this section, to the part of a public highway for which the maximum authorized speed limit is indicated in accordance with section 303.1; and
(3)  on any other public highway determined by the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Public Security after consulting with the municipality responsible for the maintenance of the highway, if applicable.
When determining a public highway under subparagraph 3 of the first paragraph, the Ministers may take into account such factors as the accident potential of the highway.
Any order made under subparagraph 3 of the first paragraph is published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.

They may only be used to monitor compliance with highway safety rules
(1)  on a road or land situated in a school zone, as defined by regulation of the Minister of Transport;
(2)  in a construction or maintenance work zone limited, for the purposes of this section, to the part of a public highway for which the maximum authorized speed limit is indicated in accordance with section 303.1; and
(3)  on any other public highway determined by the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Public Security after consulting with the municipality responsible for the maintenance of the highway, if applicable.
When determining a public highway under subparagraph 3 of the second paragraph, the Ministers may take into account such factors as the accident potential of the highway.
Any order made under the first or second paragraph is published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.

634.3. Photo radar devices and red light camera systems may only be used subject to the conditions and procedures and at the places determined by the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Public Security.
In determining where photo radar devices and red light camera systems are to be installed, the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Public Security may consider requests submitted by municipalities.
The places where photo radar devices and red light camera systems may be used must be announced by means of traffic signs or signals determined in accordance with section 289.
