Civil Protection Act
Chapter P-33 is replaced by the Act respecting the protection of persons and property in the event of disaster (chapter P-38.1). (1979, c. 64, s. 55).

1. The Gouvernement is authorized to appoint a co-ordinator of civil protection for Québec.

2. The Gouvernement may, generally or especially, authorize the co-ordinator
(a)  to represent the Gouvernement du Québec in relation with the Government of Canada with respect to the study and drawing up of any general plan of civil protection in case of war;
(b)  to make, with the Government of Canada or the government of a Canadian province bordering on Québec, one or more agreements relating to the civil protection of persons and property in Québec, as well as the working out of collective projects concerning such civil protection;
(c)  to direct, order and co-ordinate, within Québec, the preparation and carrying out of any measures relating to the civil protection of persons and property;
(d)  to perform any other duty or attribution which the Gouvernement deems advisable to grant or assign to him in these respects.

3. Notwithstanding any legislative provision incompatible with this act and subject to the previous general or special approval of the Commission municipale du Québec, every municipal corporation is vested with the administrative and financial powers necessary to realize and fulfil the agreements respecting civil protection in Québec.

4. For the purposes of this act, the Gouvernement is authorized to appoint the officers and employees it may deem expedient and to fix their salaries or indemnities.

5. The co-ordinator of civil protection and the officers and employees appointed under this act shall not be personally liable for any act done, in good faith, in the discharge of the duties entrusted to them under this act.

6. The co-ordinator appointed under this act may be a member of the Conseil exécutif du Québec and, notwithstanding any legislative provision incompatible herewith, he may receive the indemnities and travelling or other expenses which may be allotted to him for the discharge of his duties, without incurring disqualification under the meaning of section 55 of the Legislature Act (chapter L-1).

7. The expenses occasioned by this act to the Gouvernement du Québec shall be paid out of the consolidated revenue fund.
