16. If the Chief Statistician or an assistant chief statistician is absent or unable to act, the minister responsible for the administration of this Act may appoint an interim replacement.

16. If the Chief Statistician is absent or unable to act, the minister responsible for the administration of this Act may appoint an acting Chief Statistician.
