62. (1)  Notwithstanding the Act respecting the Ministère des affaires intergouvernementales, any Cree village corporation may, by a by-law of its council previously approved by the Gouvernement du Québec, enter into an agreement respecting the provision of police services with the Government of Canada or one of its bodies, or with a Cree Band.
Throughout the duration of such an agreement entered into with a Band, any special constable appointed pursuant to section 80 of the Police Act (chapter P-13), having competence within the reserve or the Category IA lands under the jurisdiction of this Band shall have, in addition to any power or duty conferred by the said section, the duty to maintain peace, order and public safety within the municipality as well as in any other territory in which the corporation has jurisdiction, to prevent crime and infringements of the by-laws of the corporation and to seek out the offenders.
(2)  A Cree village corporaiton may also, by a by-law of its council previously approved by the Minister of Justice, enter into such an agreement with any municipal corporation, whatever may be the act governing it.
The second paragraph of subsection 1 shall apply mutatismutandis to this subsection.
(3)  The police services furnished to the corporation under an agreement contemplated in subsection 1 or 2 shall be deemed to be a municipal service established by the corporation for the purposes of section 20.
(4)  This section shall cease to apply with respect to a Cree village corporation as of the day when the police force of the community, the members of which compose this corporation, is created pursuant to subsection 19.2 of the Agreement.
(5)  The Minister of Justice shall be responsible for the application of this section.
