144. When the Minister of Energy and Resources or any forest protection agency recognized by the Minister deems it necessary for the protection of the forest, he may require any person carrying on any work in the forest or having the same carried on, any holder of a timber cutting permit and any owner of an industrial establishment located in the forest or near it to comply with the instructions and regulations of the Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources respecting the protection of forests and to place at the disposal of the Minister or his representatives the employees and equipment he deems necessary for the prevention and fighting of forest fires and for the carrying out of the provisions of this Division.
Whosoever neglects or refuses to comply with the provisions of this section commits an offence and is liable, upon summary prosecution, in addition to the costs, to a fine of not less than $250 nor more than $2 000 or to imprisonment for not less than one month nor more than six months and, upon failure to pay the fine and the costs, to imprisonment for not less than one month nor more than three months.

Whosoever neglects or refuses to comply with the provisions of this section commits an offence and is liable, upon summary prosecution, in addition to the costs, to a fine of not less than two hundred and fifty dollars nor more than two thousand dollars or to imprisonment for not less than one month nor more than six months and, upon failure to pay the fine and the costs, to imprisonment for not less than one month nor more than three months.
