246.12. The pension of a judge shall be for life and is payable from the day on which the judge retires.
The pension of a judge who dies after retirement shall continue to be paid to the judge’s spouse, or if he or she leaves no married or civil union spouse, to his or her heirs until the first day of the month following the death of the judge.

246.12. Subject to the reservations mentioned in section 246.10 respecting the pensions of surviving spouses of judges, the pensions above provided for shall be for life; they shall be paid monthly and shall be untransferable and unseizable.
All sums paid under the retirement plan provided for by this Part shall be taken out of the consolidated revenue fund.
