161. Presiding justices of the peace are appointed by the Government, by a commission under the Great Seal. They shall hold office during good behaviour.
The notice of appointment shall determine their place of residence.
The Government may, in accordance with sections 108, 110, 112 and 113 with the necessary modifications, modify the notice of appointment of a presiding justice of the peace with respect to the place of residence.

161. Every justice of the peace appointed with unlimited jurisdiction under section 158 is vested with all the rights and powers of one or more justices of the peace, as the case may be, and is subject to the laws respecting the duties of justices of the peace, in so far as they apply to him.

161. Such oath, together with the oaths of allegiance and of office, shall be taken by such justice of the peace within six months after his appointment, in default whereof his appointment shall be considered as cancelled.
