Full text
17. An employee ceases to be covered by the plan on the last day on which the employee holds an employment referred to in the first paragraph of section 7. Where applicable, the employee becomes a member of the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan as of the day the employee holds pensionable employment under that plan. This paragraph applies subject to section 3.1 of the Act respecting the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (chapter R-10).
However, where the person does not hold pensionable employment under the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan on the day the employee ceases to be covered by this plan, the person is, for the purposes of eligibility for and computation of benefits under the plan, deemed to have ceased to be a member of the plan on the date determined in section 9 as if the person had qualified for membership in this plan.

17. Subject to the fourth paragraph of section 12, if the service credited to an employee in respect of employment referred to in the first paragraph of section 7 for a year or part of a year included in a 24-month period provided for in section 10 is less than the percentage of the credited service determined in section 10, the employee ceases to be a member of the plan
(1)  on the last day of the year or part of a year included in the 24-month period if, on that day, the employee was a member of the plan ; or
(2)  the last day on which the employee ceases to be a member of the plan if the employee was not a member of the plan on the date determined in subparagraph 1.
The employee is, in respect of employment referred to in the first paragraph of section 7, a member of the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan on the day following the day on which the employee ceases to be a member of this plan or, in the case provided for in subparagraph 2 of the first paragraph, the first day on which the employee holds pensionable employment under the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan. That paragraph applies, subject to section 3.1 of the Act respecting the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (chapter R-10).
However, in the case provided for in subparagraph 2 of the first paragraph, where the person does not hold pensionable employment under the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan, the person is, for the purposes of eligibility for and computation of benefits under the plan, deemed to have ceased to be a member of the plan on the date determined in section 9 as if the person had qualified for membership in this plan.
