P-42 - Animal Health Protection Act

Full text (Repealed).
2012, c. 18, s. 18; 2015, c. 35, s. 7. For the purpose of better reconciling the safety and welfare requirements of dogs with the activities carried on by Native people in certain regions and the cultural, climatic and geographical realities of those regions, the Government is authorized to enter into an agreement with a first nation represented by all the band councils of the communities comprising that nation, with a Native community represented by its band council or by the council of a northern village, with a group of communities so represented or, in the absence of such councils, with any other Native group on any subject covered by this division or the regulations.
The provisions of such an agreement take precedence over the provisions of this division and the regulations. However, any person covered by an agreement is only exempt from the application of the provisions of this division or the regulations that are inconsistent with the agreement to the extent that the person respects the agreement.
An agreement entered into under this section is tabled in the National Assembly within 15 days of its signature or, if the Assembly is not sitting, within 15 days of resumption. In addition, it is published in the Gazette officielle du Québec.
