33. The director may, in writing and to the extent he may indicate, authorize a natural person to perform one or more of his duties, except those listed in section 32.

33. The director shall, in accordance with the other provisions of this act, discharge the following duties:
(a)  he shall assess the situation of any child whose security or development may be considered to be endangered or to whom an act contrary to any act or regulation in force in Québec is imputed;
(b)  he shall take, if such is the case, the urgent measures dictated by the situation of the child and endeavour, whenever possible, to obtain the agreement of the parents and child to such measures;
(c)  he shall decide on the guidance of every child whose situation he has assessed, except in the cases provided for in section 60;
(d)  he shall take charge of any child whose security or development is endangered or to whom an act contrary to any act or regulation in force in Québec is imputed;
(e)  he shall see that the measures ordered by the Court in regard to any child are carried out.
He shall also exercise such powers and carry out such duties as may be conferred upon him by law in matters of adoption.
