8. The Minister shall devise and propose to the Government policies, measures and programs concerning, in particular, the maintenance of public safety, crime prevention, the implementation and improvement of methods of crime detection and repression, and the imprisonment of offenders and their reintegration into the community, and shall, where applicable, see to their implementation.
In addition, the Minister shall exercise, as regards civil protection and fire safety, the duties and powers conferred on him by the Civil Protection Act (chapter S-2.3) and the Fire Safety Act (chapter S-3.4).

In addition, the Minister shall exercise, as regards civil protection and fire safety, the duties and powers conferred on him by the Civil Protection Act (chapter S-2.3) and the Fire Safety Act (chapter S-3.4).
