426. In any prosecution, action or proceeding taken under this act, it shall not be necessary to produce the writ of election or the return of such writ, or the returning-officer’s commission; it shall be sufficient to make general evidence thereof. The certificate of the returning-officer or the admission of the defendant shall be sufficient evidence of the due holding of the election and of the nomination of any person named in such certificate, or mentioned as candidate in the admission.
