345. (1)  Unless he has been notified earlier to attend before a judge for a recount or re-addition of the votes given at the election, the returning-officer must, immediately after the sixth day after the addition by him under section 306, or the ascertainment by him under sections 313 and 314 of the number of votes given for each candidate, make a return in the form 65 certifying that the candidate having the greatest number of votes has been elected, and send it, with the writ, to the director general of elections.
(2)  He shall at the same time address a duplicate or copy of such election return to each of the candidates.
