279. The deputy returning-officer shall place the poll-book, the ballot-papers, the electoral lists and all other documents used at the election, except the statement of the poll and the list of agents, in the large envelope supplied for the purpose. He shall seal such large envelope with gummed paper bands. The deputy returning-officer and the poll-clerk must, and the agents or electors present in the polling-station may, if they wish, affix their signatures across the gummed paper bands. Then the deputy returning-officer shall place the large envelope in the ballot-box.
