272. In counting the votes, the deputy returning-officer shall reject
(a)  every ballot-paper that has not been supplied by him;
(b)  every ballot-paper which, in dimensions and form, is not identical with the ballot-papers supplied in booklets and used for voting in the polling-station;
(c)  every ballot-paper upon which more than one vote appears;
(d)  every ballot-paper upon which no vote is marked;
(e)  every ballot-paper upon which the intention of the voter is not clearly shown;
(f)  every ballot-paper on which the cross has not been marked in one of the squares showing the natural colour of the paper and specially and exclusively reserved for such purpose;
(g)  every ballot-paper by which a vote has been given for a person who has not been nominated or for a candidate who has withdrawn;
(h)  every ballot-paper upon which there is any writing or mark by which the voter could be identified or which can be used as a means or conventional sign of identification;
(i)  every ballot-paper on which the cross has not been marked with a black lead pencil;
(j)  every ballot-paper which does not bear the initials of the deputy returning-officer.
