233. The deputy returning-officer and the poll-clerk shall be at their polling-station thirty minutes at least before the hour fixed for opening the poll, under penalty of losing their rights to any remuneration. Any infraction of this section shall also render the deputy returning-officer or poll-clerk liable to a fine of twenty-five dollars to one hundred dollars and, on failure to pay the fine, to an imprisonment of eight days to three months.
