151. Every employer whose employee is a candidate must allow the latter to absent himself until the day following the polling-day; he is forbidden to dismiss him on that account; he is not obliged to pay to his employee, during the time of such absence, the salary and allowances to which he would have been entitled if he had worked for him; but such absence shall not be deducted from the vacations which are habitually accorded to the employee, nor shall it affect any privilege attached to his employment.
Every person contravening this section shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of one hundred to five hundred dollars and to an imprisonment of fifteen days to twelve months.
